Just found out that we missed a big arrangement with karen people last saturday. Most of the karen living in the east of Norway were gathered just 15 min from where we live. And we missed it!
A few days ago, cycling back home from Oslo lateish, tired and hungry, disaster struck. Just as we got out of the city center by back tire popped and went completely flat.
Just as the reality of the long trip dragging the bike home sunk in, a girl rode past and said there was a bike ambulance (sykkelambulanse) down the road who might be able to help us. “What kind kind of bizarre joke was that”, said we, “to think that there is such a thing as a bike ambulanse!” After trudging down the road for a short while, lo and behold this is what we saw:

Our knight in shining armor sat waiting for us clad in red and white, just his like ambulance. In no time at all this incredibly friendly man had turned the bike upside down, whipped the back wheel off and put a new inner-tube in. In 5 minutes flat we were ready to go again, happy as could be. Our day was saved all thanks to Sykkelambulansen!
So if you are in the Oslo area and your trusty steed of steel breaks down, fear not just call 99 70 70 35 and the bike ambulance will come to you in your time of need.
You can also find him at www.sykkelambulansen.no .
Highly recommended.
Today at 3pm Thant Myint-U, an author and former UN official who was involved in the 1988 pro-democracy uprising in Burma, is coming to Tronsmo book shop in Oslo to talk about his book and the political situation in Burma. Be there or be square!

And they serve Burmese coffee (which is good)!
Today we are in Riga. Tomorrow we will be in Oslo! Hurra! And the day after that Tom will be off to Trondheim for his exam. And the day after that Helene will go to se a flat in Oslo we might rent, and then meet her new friends at a Westerdals summer party!
Svetlana, the Russian doll, will very soon be mr Henning Krane Offer-Ohlsens favourite toy. Her bottom makes music.
